Thank you Van. Great info on the tools and what to look for in woods, unfortunately I live in the UK and basswood is expensive and difficult to find. I bought some from Amazon and it’s very hard and the colour of it is like wet sand, even my sisters Band saw can’t cut it. Awful. Thanks again, love your videos.
What if I want to carve details into pieces for an oak mantelpiece? Is that considered a different kind of carving. E.g. architectural details
Thanks, Van, and lots of useful information and "refreshers."
Thanks

Your videos are awesome! Thank you!
I like catalpa wood , very little shrinkage
When I began carving back in the late 70’s, I visited the Silver Dollar City carving shop in Branson, MO; and purchased a few books by Harold Enlow. I have his book on carving faces, which I find invaluable. You seem to carve similar to his style, which I find delightful. Thanks so much for sharing your talent and skill with us. Always enjoy your videos!
