  1. My niche has been custom dog kennels. The problem I’m having is marketing to those people who want to spend $1200-2200 on their dog kennel.

  2. Hey Zach. Great video. I have invested a lot in tools recently.. need a few more I think to really have what I assume would be enough to build just about anything.. and of course then build things to get that expertise.. but I have a decent table saw (SawStop CTS.. small but enough to use for now). The Festool 60 FEB with scoring blade and 75" track (I think that was the one that came with it). 3 festool sanders (6", square one and 3.5" rotex). Splurged on the crazy D700 and the Seneca D500 kit plus router bits to cut 500/700 tenons. Bosch 12" miter saw and stand (the one with that funky arm setup to glide with). I started with a Bosch table for my router but went nuts and ended up getting the full Harvey mobile base + steel table top (the 31" one not cast iron one), frence, and the JEssum lift kit and the harvey miter gauge too for my Bosch 1617ev router. I also picked up a wen sander thingy and the wen 9" band saw setup (cheap.. ideally I want a good Harvey or similar 14" or so for resawing wood). I got the Festol C26 + cyclone setup for dust collection. I have a variety of Ryobi tools/battery setup as well.. nail guns, drills, saws, etc. Sue me.. I like ryobi. :D. I bought most of these tools to do some projects around the house.. replacing carpet with laminate (I know.. cheap flooring but the goal is to sell home soon most likely so just needed to replace 16 year old nasty carpet with something to improve the house), doing a few built in cabinets ( first time trying it). Oh.. got the DW735 + helical blade as well to clean up wood, and I even bought a rail kit + 3hp router (Wen) and 2" bit to maybe try my hand at tables from rough wood resurfacing/evening/etc. I have the kreg table.. which I dont like.. too wobbly. But dont have the room to have a stationary table. In fact I put my DW735 and my CTS on movable stands as well so I Can fold them up out of the way as we park a car in the garage and I use a portion of it (2nd garage side) for a gym. So I often have to move tools outside when its not raining to do anything. SO.. as a hobbyist who just went stupidly nuts buying what I assume are good quality (and probably overpriced) tools.. who has been out of a tech job for a year and starting to run on fumes now (partly due to spending so much on tools :D).. I would LOVE to find some way to bring in a few grand or more a month with all my tools and learn how to do so. I love the idea of building tables, cabinets, furniture, etc, but also unsure how the heck you ship things like that given weight/costs/packaging, and we have a TON of local DIYers in the area as well so it’s not like I will drum up tons of business locally. I also dont own a truck (yet.. but not looking to buy one in this crazy overpriced car market anytime soon and without a job too). So can’t easily transport stuff anyway. What would you suggest next steps to get to the next level. Being realistic.. assuming a real business that pays taxes on income.. I’d need about 6K a month after taxes to live ok in my area. Thats rent/food/etc.. but also maybe a little on savings. Of course I’d want a bit more than that in order to cover costs for repairs, replacement bits, etc. So I would assume I’d somehow have to make about 15K or so in sales a month on average to pull in 6K or so after taxes (plus other expenses). What do you recommend I do to get started for now as a sort of weekend warrior side gig.. to learn and hopefully within 6 months to a year have that level of income.. and the tooling I listed.. is that enough.. or am I missing some important pieces?

  3. Do you think God will forgive you for suggesting people advertise their businesses on a website that incited a genocide in Myanmar? I’m gonna ask him not to this Sunday. I’m gonna ask him not to forgive your parents or your children for it either.

  4. Loved the video, lots of good info. My question is what’s the difference in starting a business this year versus last year? How can we take better advantage of upcoming trends?

    Thanks.
